OnsNet inventors challenge

Kick-off during the CONNected festival

The lovely village of Nuenen is not only known because Vincent van Gogh lived and painted there, but also because Coöperatie OnsNet Nuenen built the very first Fibre to the Home network in the Netherlands there.

This year OnsNet celebrates its 20th anniversary! And they want to celebrate with all residents, including the youngest inventors of Nuenen. OnsNet asked The Discovery Factory to organise an educational project on innovation. We are coming to the schools in Nuenen with a fun and educational workshop on soldering and coding. Children solder Morse code transmitters and learn how to use them to communicate with light signals. That is also how a fibre-optic network works!

After that they get started on the OnsNet Inventors Challenge: come up with a home robot with wifi that makes your grandparents’ lives more fun, healthier or safer. A great way to thank grandma and grandpa for that fast network in the village.
