With 40% of all Dutch patent applications, High Tech Campus Eindhoven can rightly call itself the smartest square kilometre in the Netherlands. This smartest square kilometre lies on the south side of Eindhoven, five kilometres from Strijp-S, where The Discovery Factory is based in one of the former Philips factories.
Even so, it’s only a small step from the Campus to The Discovery Factory: both places play an important role in the Brainport ecosystem of creativity, technology and innovation. For more than 10 years, The Discovery Factory has been inspiring children and young people to get creative and find out whether they want to become real inventors. They experience how great it is to use technology to come up with solutions that make the world a little better or more fun. And of course that matters to the companies on the Campus, because they can certainly use new talent from the youngest generation of engineers!
That is why High Tech Campus Eindhoven has formed a partnership with The Discovery Factory. As a sponsor, the Campus supports The Discovery Factory’s activities so that even more children and young people get excited about a future in technology and innovation. Hilde de Vocht, director of Marketing and Communications, stresses the direct importance: “Not enough children are choosing to study technology yet. And that needs to change. Together with a number of leading companies, we are taking responsibility to do our bit. And of course we hope that in a few years all those children will come and work on our beautiful campus!”.
Thanks in part to this sponsorship, The Discovery Factory can keep developing inspiring programmes for the inventors of the future. And of course all the children of people who work on the High-Tech Campus are warmly invited to take part: at The Discovery Factory or through one of the education programmes.
