Designing for colleagues

Looking for an outing with your department (or another group) where getting to know each other better is one of the goals? Then our new workshop is the perfect fit!

preparation

First of all, you ask all participants to bring along an item of clothing that doesn’t need to stay in one piece. Because we are going to ‘pimp’ that item of clothing!

Research phase

After the welcome (with a drink), we pair people up by drawing lots. (Of course you can also form pairs yourselves beforehand.) Each participant is given the task of decorating the other person’s item of clothing. So everyone becomes both a designer and a design object/model.

The pairs start by talking to each other. The aim is to find out what drives the other person, what they stand for and what they like in terms of clothing style. The ultimate way to get to know each other better! The items of clothing are then swapped.

designing

Everyone gets to work drawing a design (on paper) for the other person. The idea, of course, is that you think carefully about the other person. How does your design represent the wishes or qualities of the owner of the item of clothing? Where on the item of clothing will your design go? And in which colour(s)? In practice, this design session is a cheerful chaos. The whole group sits and stands around a number of tables and, naturally, the ideas lead to plenty of hilarity and fun! Our bar is open for extra moments of relaxation and inspiration, and for evaluations along the way.

making

When a design is ready, we scan it in together. Using the vinyl cutter, we turn the scan into a print on foil. With a heat press you can then press your design beautifully onto your colleague’s item of clothing. A few finishing touches… and done! You can now solemnly hand the pimped item of clothing back to its owner. Who has hopefully made an equally beautiful design for you!

final show

When all the clothing is ready, the highlight of the workshop arrives: the fashion show! One by one, everyone shows off their pimped clothing to the group. Of course, it is up to the designer to explain their own design! This way all group members learn more about the personality of each model showing their ‘new’ item of clothing. You are all spectators, but also a designer and a model for a turn.

A fantastic workshop in which you really take the time (3 hours) for each other and get to know each other better in a special and very fun way!
