vacancy: We are looking for a Maker

Will you be our new Maker?

(24-32 hours per week, Eindhoven)

Do you love being technical and hands-on? At The Discovery Factory we are looking for a Maker who helps keep our workshop running and supports colleagues in preparing and running workshops.

What will you do?

Really varied and versatile work!

Preparation & Logistics: You get materials ready for workshops and, together with two volunteers, make sure our stock (from wood to electronics) stays up to level. You also look after storage and transport for projects off site. You support the bookings department with advice on the capacity of machines and tools.
Tool maintenance: You make sure our 3D printers, hammers, saws, drills, soldering irons, glue guns and other tools stay in top condition. Safety comes first. Is an installation or piece of play equipment broken? You grab your toolbox and fix it.
Development: We are always creating new workshops and programmes. With your practical skills you are part of the development team.
Working with children and young people: Supervising children and young people is also part of your role. As a permanent staff member, you are a go-to person for the team of on-call staff. Where needed, you also supervise an intern.

Who are we looking for?

We know this is quite a lot to ask 😉

Hands-on: You are handy with a range of hand tools and materials. You can carry out repairs independently. You are also comfortable with digital equipment.
MBO level (secondary vocational): gained through education or experience.
Affinity with the target group: You enjoy working with children and young people.
Communicative: You have an open, enthusiastic and sociable attitude towards colleagues and visitors.
Organisational talent: You keep the overview, plan ahead and organise the materials, machines and logistics needed for upcoming workshops.
Flexible & holder of a category B driving licence: You step in where needed (occasionally at weekends too) and can drive our electric van.
