In a world where only one in five young people chooses a path in technology and science, there is a threat of a shortage of enthusiastic, well-educated young people who can carry future developments.
That is why it is important that all young people get the chance to discover their talents and explore how they can play a role in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).
StemUp!
In 2024, ASML is starting a StemUp programme for schools within a 35 km radius of Veldhoven. Schools work with a StemUp coach to think about where they want to be in 2030 in terms of STEM education, and which societal challenges they would like to connect with. For the participating schools, this is the basis for choosing from various StemUp learning programmes on offer. These are programmes in which all pupils in the first and second year of (special) secondary education put STEM into practice and can show their talents and interest in Technology & Science.
Within StemUp, ASML works with a number of partners to offer tailor-made support to schools, teachers and pupils. During the StemUp pilot in 2024 and 2025, FutureBites, Junior IOT, de Maakotheek, The Discovery Factory and WisMon are working actively with the pilot schools to create inspiring STEM programmes in the Veldhoven region.
