Leonardo da Vinci

Leonardo da vinci

born in 1452, birthday on 15 April

This inventor from Italy was trained by an artist. He was a painter, sculptor and engineer. He loved nature and made beautiful drawings of it. He also designed machines and learned how to actually build them. He carried out several studies of flight and birds. It was his dream to be able to fly. He also looked for ways to use machines to make people’s lives easier and safer. Leonardo wrote down everything he thought of and everything he saw in several notebooks. In mirror writing. He was very afraid that someone would steal his ideas. Leonardo felt they belonged to him and nobody else was allowed to use them. He did share the studies he made of art and anatomy (the study of what the body looks like and how it works) with others. Mostly with his pupils.
