This inventor from Scotland came up with the telephone! In 1885 he co-founded the telecom company AT&T. His mother and his wife were deaf, and that was one of the reasons he worked on hearing and speech. He experimented with hearing aids. In the end, he managed to send the human voice through a telegraph wire: the telephone had been invented!
