TATOE
Talent Studio of the Future
TATOE stands for Talentenatelier van de Toekomst (Talent Studio of the Future). The aim is to give young people (12-18 years) the chance to discover their talents, interests and motivations. The studio is ‘of the future’: on the one hand it is about the future of young people who will play a role in the labour market within a few years, and on the other hand we want to use the studio to highlight the competences and professions of the future labour market.
With TATOE we introduce young people to ‘career thinking’ at an early age. We want them to take ownership of their school and professional careers, so that those careers suit them and they stay motivated. These well-founded choices are backed by knowledge of the needs of current and future society. Attention to self-knowledge, broadening horizons, decision-making skills and motivations (the building blocks of educational career guidance, OLB / career orientation and guidance, LOB) is of great importance here. The OLB/LOB approach differentiates as young people get older. Discovering talents and interests is not a one-off activity, it is a lifelong process in which support from the people around them is crucial. That is why we work on 3 levels: in education, in leisure time and at home.
TATOE develops
- a career exploration studio
- a pathway that guides young people from 12 to 18 years towards a suitable course or job
- professional development that strengthens the people around young people, namely teachers and supervisors, and the informed involvement of their parents.
With TATOE we choose to offer young people realistic experiences of a future-oriented labour market. We also work towards a shared language for Flanders and the southern Netherlands in the labour market and education.
